Description
Crafted from barley grown by Martin Foley on his farm in Hook Head, County Wexford, this single malt is a testament to the diversity of Irish whiskey. The barley was harvested on August 12, 2015, distilled in week 6 of 2017, and matured for 3 years, 8 months, and 26 days before being bottled on February 15, 2021.
The Hook Head 1.1 is a complex and intriguing whisky that rewards exploration. Its straw color, with legs of oils coating the glass, is a testament to the quality of the spirit. The nose is a captivating blend of aromas, with notes of earthy maltiness, fresh soil, citrus peel, breadcrust, clove, white pepper, caramel, milk chocolate, salted popcorn, barnyard, and oak green foliage. The palate is a symphony of flavors, with a spice bomb up front, followed by cloves, white pepper, salted caramel, liquorice, ginger biscuits, lemon zest, and chili chocolate. The finish is dry but leaves a lasting oiliness that holds the spiciness for a long time.
With 30,066 bottles released, the 2021 Waterford Single Farm Origin Hook Head 1.1 is a highly sought-after collector’s item. This special release is a celebration of the Waterford distillery’s commitment to quality, sustainability, and innovation. Whether you’re an experienced connoisseur or simply exploring the world of Irish whiskey, the Hook Head 1.1 is a truly exceptional spirit that will be cherished for years to come.
