The 2006 Jack Daniel’s Gold Medal 1981 is a rare and exquisite spirit that embodies the essence of the legendary Tennessee distillery. This limited edition bottling commemorates the seventh Gold Medal won by Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Whiskey in the prestigious Brussels-based Selection Institut Pour Les Selections De La Qualité.

A Symbol of Resilience and Excellence

The year 1981 marked a significant milestone for Jack Daniel’s. Despite the distillery undergoing significant changes, including a change in ownership and a tenfold increase in volume, the commitment to quality remained unwavering. The Gold Medal victory in Brussels served as a testament to the enduring excellence of Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Whiskey.

A Symphony of Flavors

The 2006 Gold Medal 1981 is a testament to the art of whisky making, showcasing the unique character and complexity that Jack Daniel’s has become renowned for. Available in both 90 proof (45% ABV) and 86 proof (43% ABV) versions, this spirit offers a rich and satisfying drinking experience.

A Collector’s Investment

As a limited edition release, the 2006 Gold Medal 1981 is a highly sought-after item among whiskey collectors. Its unique provenance and exceptional quality make it a prized possession for those who appreciate the finer things in life.

Details: It had been 27 years since the Jack Daniel Distillery entered a Gold Medal competition, and much had happened with the Distillery during that time. Within two years of winning the 1954 Star of Excellence in Brussels, Belgium, Jack Daniel’s had experienced a 100-percent sales increase as well as a change in ownership. Lem Motlow’s four sons sold the Distillery to the Brown-Forman Corporation in 1956. By the end of the 1970s, Jack Daniel’s volume was increasing tenfold. Despite all these changes, however, there was nothing different about our commitment to making our whiskey. We thought it was important to demonstrate that commitment by entering the Brussels-based Selection Institut Pour Les Selections De La Qualité in 1981. Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Whiskey was awarded the competition’s top medal, the “Grand Gold Medal with Palm Leaves.” The seventh bottle in our Gold Medal series celebrates our 1981 Gold Medal. Through the years, we’ve often been asked why we stopped entering international whiskey competitions after winning Gold Medal No. 7. We thought the answer would be obvious.
